View through visitors

Have you heard of "view through" visitors?  Of course you've heard of "click through" visitors/traffic, etc, but now there's a marekting term for those visitors who receive an email, see a link or are notified in some fashion about a page but instead of clicking on a link, they visit the page separately perhaps later in the day or week.

With this trend identified, view through visitors have to be taken into consideration in all marketing efforts.  How?

Here are a couple examples:

Instead of long, meaningless url, a link will have to be very short.  Example: yoursite.com/short.  Have you see urls that are 100 or more characters long?  They don't work for view through traffic.  (They barely work at all.)

Links will also have to be relevant to the promotion or item/information.  A memory hook that the visitor can remember, like yoursite.com/redshoes for an email blast sent with a sale on red shoes.

The important thing to remember is, a view through visitor has to remember or write down the link and they have to find the desired information instantly.
